Guys, it’s time to pay attention right now because I have some wonderful Dior products to show you today and it’s so good that it contains some possible new Holy Grail material. For real! Being quite the Dior girl myself I have to admit that I’m very unfamiliar with their foundations. I find foundations to be very difficult to match to the needs of my skin so I’m always very cautious when trying something new. After a long search I found my Holy Grail in the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation and nothing came close to this ever since. But that changed when Dior released the Diorskin Star foundation together with a concealer and a magical sponge. So sit tight guys because this is going to be a long one!

I’m going to kick off with the foundation. It’s completely new and it comes in 12 shades. Something that kept me from trying Dior foundations was the shade selection. They didn’t quite matched my skin tone. With the Star foundation however it’s not a problem because they really thought this through. We have the pinky tones, the yellow tones and the more neutral tones. Another great plus is the shade selection going from pale to dark, something that you don’t often see in the high-end brands. The foundation comes in a glass bottle, quite similar to the other Dior foundations. It comes with a pump. You get 30 ml of product.

Diorskin Star foundation has an Spf of 30 which is a very big plus. The foundation has a brightening effect and will give you that flawless studio lightning effect on the skin. The finish is semi-matte and it has quite some coverage. I’d say that it’s suitable for most skin-types, especially those with combination skin. It might be a bit challenging for those with very dry skin because the finish is a bit too matte for that. My favourite way to apply this is with the Backstage Blender, which is specially made for Dior foundations. I’m not saying this because I want to push the blender onto you but it really does give the most airy, natural and flawless finish. It also applies beautifully with a dense foundation brush.

The wear time of this foundation is pretty great. It lasts a whole day on me but I do see a bit of shine coming through at the end of the day. When it comes to that it can’t beat my beloved Estee Lauder DW Light but it performs quite strongly in terms of wear compared to other foundations (I find EL DW Light to be freakishly longwearing). Another great plus is that it photographs beautifully with flash depsite having a high SPF30. So to conclude my thoughts on the Star foundation: it’s a gorgeous, long wearing foundation that looks natural on the skin. I am very happy with the high SPF, something that I find lacking in the EL DW Light foundation. It’s definitely a new favourite of mine and I urge you to give it a try!

Next we have the Diorskin Star Concealer. This is a sculpting brightening concealer and goes perfectly together with the foundation. It comes in a square tube with a doe-foot applicator. You get 6 ml of product. There are 5 shades ranging from pale to dark, again a big plus for those darker shades. They are all quite warm-toned because they are meant to be used for the under-eye area. The finish is again semi-matte and it does not contain any shimmer.

Shade 003 Sand

The shade that I got to review is 003 Sand which is too dark for me to use under my eyes. There for I find it a bit tricky to post a full review on it but here it goes. The shade Sand has a slight salmon tint to it which is perfect for brightening up those eyes. It’s great for anyone darker than me (NC 30). For those around my skin tone I’d say 002 Beige is a better match. The concealer will brighten and neutralise those dark circles. I already told you that the finish is semi-matte which makes it perfect for the under eye area. It will not tend to crease or smear which is my problem with concealers that are too creamy or emollient. However, if you want to set it with powder, you need to go for a very fine milled one because it will look dry otherwise. You can also just leave it like that if your skin is on the drier side. I have the feeling that this concealer is the next big thing but I can’t tell for sure until I have a better colour match for my skin tone.

The last product is the Backstage Blender. It looks a lot like the Beautyblender but it’s easier accessible. These egg-shaped sponges are new to me but they changed the whole foundation game to me. I find them applying foundation better than no other and the finish is just flawless! However, not every egg shaped sponge is made equally. There is a big difference in quality for sure. Something you want to look for is the softness of the sponge. Some of these sponges are so hard that it’s very uncomfortable to use. Also, the cheaper ones wear down faster which means you have to replace it after a few uses. The Dior Backstage Blender has it all. It soft and you can squeeze it easily to the shape you desire. This is important because you need to reach the contours of your face easily. I really love the tip of the sponge because it’s better shaped than most of the egg-shaped sponges. It slightly reminds me of a finger which makes it perfect to use under the eyes and small areas.

The big difference with a Beautyblender and the Backstage Blender is that you use the latter one dry. It was something I needed to get used to because I love the dampened finish of the Beauty Blender. However it works as great. I used it dampened once just out of sheer curiosity but the finish remained the same. It gives that air touched finish. It really hugs your skin and blends the foundation just seamlessly into the skin. The price seems to vary from country to country (Belgium is around 16 euro) but it’s really worth the money. These sponges are a bit trickier to clean but the best way to clean them is putting them into a bowl of water and microwave it shortly. That’s the best way to be sure that all the bacteria is dead. If you want to try out a blender like this made of great quality than this is a very good time to try it!

So here we have the finished result when you use these three magical things together. Notice how the skin looks very natural and even? The finish is not too matte because it still has depth and a subtle glow. If you are looking for something that performs great with photographs, look no further!
